The CHS Blue Thunder Band consists of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic band, Concert band, Jazz Ensemble, and Marching band.
The Wind Ensemble is designed for students with three or more years of playing experience and with advanced musical ability. Advanced band literature and techniques are stressed. The wind ensemble will perform regularly in concerts, festivals, contests, and civic events. The CHS wind ensemble is the premier performance ensemble for concert band and is for serious instrumental students. Prerequisite: Director approval and by audition only.
Marching Band at CHS is a separate class away from other band. It counts as a PE credit and meets four times a week. During the marching season the class meets Monday night, Tuesday night, Wednesday after school, and Thursday after school. During marching season the marching band has several competitions.
